Shanghai steps up its recycling game

Shanghai recently came under the spotlight as the city’s first domestic waste management regulation came into effect on July 1st 2019. The rules mandate a new garbage classification system, while failure to observe the proper separation could result in a fine that goes up to 200 yuan ($29) for individuals, and up to 50,000 yuan ($7,253) for businesses. Furthermore, trash operators are allowed to refuse the improperly sorted bins.

Yokohama’s Municipal Government says “Mottainai—What a waste!”

“In Japan, there is so much packaging. Everything is wrapped three, four, five times. . . . If you could stop all the packaging, there wouldn’t be so much garbage to sort” said a Yokohama resident to the Japan Times in 2005.

城市管理部门在规划出行政策和基础设施时,时常面临的挑战在于缺少相关举措实际效益的反馈和意见。有时,城市出行政策和基础设施的利益相关方甚至被排除在相关流程之外。为设计出以人为本且具有可持续性的出行系统,政策制定者、城市规划者和交通运营者,应该更加深入了解利益相关者不断变化的需求,并且平衡城市内相关部门间的竞争。这将可帮助城市在决策过程中有效避免错用成本高昂的低效解决方案。

佛山、长春与英城市就循环经济和废弃物管理交换意见

宜可城东亚秘书处在“绿色循环城市联盟”的框架下,协助安排中国佛山市和长春市代表于6月10-14日赴英国参加2019伦敦循环经济周。通过此知识交流计划,来自佛山市和长春市的代表与英国回收协会和利益相关者进行对话,与国当地的地方政府建立联系交流,并实际考察了伦敦再生中心。

Foshan and Changchun exchange ideas on circular development and waste management with British cities

ICLEI’s Green Circular Cities Coalition (GCCC) facilitated the Chinese cities of Foshan and Changchun to join the London Circular Economy Week on 10-14 June 2019. Delegates from the two Chinese cities had dialogues with the Recycling Association and stakeholders, participated in networking activities with British local governments, and made site visits to the London Renew Centre.
