Global Mayors Compact Shows Unity and Ambition To Tackle Climate Change

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and UN Special Envoy for Cities and Climate Change Michael R. Bloomberg today announced the launch of a global Compact of Mayors, the world’s largest effort for cities to fight climate change. People's Climate, Mayors Commit: ICLEI joins citizens and activists calling for climate action

Happening on 21 September in New York and globally, the People's Climate March is on its way to becoming the largest and most diverse mobilization for climate action in history. To show their commitment to protecting people’s climate, a number of Mayors will join the march under the banner, “People’s Climate, Mayors Commit”. This is in line with the vision laid out in the global advocacy of the Local Government Climate Roadmap.

World leaders are gathering in New York next week to attend the Climate Summit 2014.
