2023 Annual Report
The current global urban population exceeds fifty percent, showing the significant impact of rapid urbanization on sustainable development. Despite facing challenges such as the global economic downturn, regional conflicts,
and climate change, ICLEI cities have persistently pursued sustainable development. Guided by ICLEI’s five development pathways—namely, low-carbon, nature based, equitable, resilient, and circular, the cities are focused on bolstering the resilience and capacity of local communities, promoting innovative solutions, advocating for policy reforms, prioritizing the needs of the vulnerable, and conserving the earth’s finite resources.
