Fostering a Resilient Future: Chinese Delegation Visits South Korea for Climate Adaptation Study

Building on the success of a similar trip in 2024 (Relevant Article), this year's study visit is designed to highlight the role of local action and policy implementation in alignment with China’s National Climate Change Adaptation Strategy 2035 and the initiative to advance climate-resilient city development in China. The delegation will engage with experts from Korean government agencies, public institutions, and public-private partnerships to discuss topics such as climate change adaptation actions, public-private collaboration, urban resilience, building energy efficiency, Eco-Mobility, and nature-based solutions. This study visit is meant to facilitate a mutual exchange of experiences and lay the groundwork for future collaboration. By bringing together experts and officials from both countries, it will provide a practical platform to share experiences, explore solutions and strengthen cooperation on climate actions and sustainable development.A 12-member delegation comprising officials from the Environmental Development Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China, and five local governments, Shangluo, Hebei Province, Changzhi, Shenzhen, and Lishui, will participate in the ‘Climate Change Adaptation and Urban Resilience Study Trip in South Korea’ from October 13 to 17. Organized by the ICLEI East Asia Secretariat, the program aims to strengthen collaboration by facilitating exchanges on climate change adaptation, citizen engagement, urban resilience, and sustainable development, while learning from South Korea’s policies and practices.
