East Asia Secretariat
Established in 2012, the ICLEI East Asia Secretariat is hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government of South Korea, and serves to coordinate regional projects and activities, and provide supports to ICLEI Members in the Greater China Region, Japan, Korea and Mongolia. We provide technical consulting, training and information services to build capacity, share knowledge and support local governments in pursuing sustainable development via local and regional programs and exchange platforms.
In March 2018, with the support of the Beijing Municipal Government, ICLEI East Asia opened its Beijing Representation Office, to focus on environmental improvement, and promote holistic, integrated and inclusive local sustainable development as well as ecological-civilization in China. The Office will support Chinese local governments in building low-carbon, resilient and environmentally friendly cities; developing green and circular economics, and accelerating peer-to-peer knowledge exchange and international cooperation via ICLEI’s global city network.
