Energy Transition Accelerator for East Asian Cities
The Energy Transition Accelerator for East Asian Cities aims to enhance the transition to green, efficient, and resilient energy systems in support of cities’ commitments to carbon neutrality. This transition is crucial for mitigating climate change and achieving energy security.
As a knowledge provider and capacity trainer, the Energy Transition Accelerator monitors, identifies, and shares innovative and practical energy transition initiatives implemented by cities. The project also provides tailored training to city policymakers based on the knowledge gained.
In 2023, ICLEI East Asia plans to establish a knowledge and network foundation for the Accelerator, targeting cities in China, Japan, South Korea, and Mongolia that are actively engaged in energy transition and international cooperation. ICLEI East Asia monitors their energy transition actions, develops a knowledge hub, identifies innovative solutions to common challenges, and creates case studies for use in training policymakers. This Accelerator will also support international forums on low-carbon cities by creating customized sessions on energy transition.
